Headline- Old video of 9/11 attack in America falsely shared as footage of an Iranian attack on Israel.

Following the Iranian missile attack on Israel, several images and videos are going viral on social media. Amidst this we noticed a video showing a large number of people running wildly on the roads and behind them, a cloud of smoke is rising from a building. Amidst the screams of the people, this smoke gradually covers the roads completely and then darkness prevails all around.

The users who share this video claims that this is from Israel.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a same video featured in a CBS8 news article titled “National Geographic documentary ‘9/11: One Day in America.’”

Moving forward, we found the same video uploaded on YouTube also with the caption Lower Manhattan Sept 11, 2001 South Tower collapse. This indicates that this is a video of the September 11, 2001 attacks in America.  

The September 11 attacks, commonly known as 9/11, were four coordinated Islamist terrorist suicide attacks carried out by al-Qaeda against the United States in 2001. On that Tuesday morning, 19 terrorists organized into 4 teams hijacked four commercial airliners scheduled to travel from the East Coast to California. The planes were crashed into New York’s World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Defense Department. America witnessed the most dangerous terrorist attack ever, in which thousands of people lost their lives.

Upon further search we came across a longer version of the viral video, on which the logo of ‘Fox 5 is present. The description part states that “South Tower collapse dust plume video taken a few blocks east on Fulton Street looking towards WTC. This video aired on Fox 5 News Channel on 11September, 2001.

Thus, taking account of all these evidences, we can understand that an old video of 9/11 attack in America falsely shared as footage of an Iranian attack on Israel.

Fact crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. This is an old video from the Twin tower attack (9/11 attack) that happened on 11 September, 2001 in the U.S.
