The video of a lion roaming on the street is from Gujarat and not Uttar Pradesh

A video of a lion roaming inside a petrol pump premise at night is now going viral on social media. Users are claiming that this is an incident from a petrol pump in Hassanpur region of Gajraula town in Uttar Pradesh.

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is an incident from Gir, Gujarat and not from Uttar Pradesh.

Sharing the video, a social media user wrote, “Gajrola ke pass hasanpur ke petrol pump par lion aa gya (Translation: A lion was spotted near a petrol pump in hassanpur region of Gajraula)“

Fact Check-

After watching the video, we noticed that at the 29-second timestamp, there is a hoarding at the petrol pump with something written in Gujarati. This raised our suspicion about whether the video is actually from Uttar Pradesh. Below you can see the image.

A relevant keyword search led us to the same video uploaded on a Facebook account on September 1, 2024. According to the information this video is from Gir, Gujarat.

In the middle of the night, a lion suddenly entered the petrol pump located on the Hari-Bishabad road. Locals speculate that the lion came to the petrol pump in search of prey.
