An image of a road cut off due to rain is being shared on social media platforms as depiction of the state of roads in Congress ruled Telangana.
However, when we fact-checked the photo we found that the road is not in Telangana but neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
Viral Photo
An X (formerly Twitter) user named Mr. Sinha shared a photo of a road split in half due to floodwaters, claiming it was in Telangana. He also compared the roads in Telangana to those in Gujarat, expressing frustration that news about the poor condition of roads in Gujarat, governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is widely reported, while similar issues in Telangana, governed by the Congress party, are overlooked.
However, we found that the image is not from Telangana but from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh governed by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Here’s the fact-check.
Fact Check
We did a Google reverse image search that led us to a Facebook post by the Official account of Krishna district managed by Andhra Pradesh Government. The post contains the viral image and is shared with the following caption: “The NDRF Employees are residing in Kondapavuluru Village . The main approach road was cut off and traffic stopped . Gudivada RDO P. Padmavathi Ma’am inspected the NDRF Road cut – off point . ( 1 / 2 )”
The same image was posted on X ( formerly known as Twitter) by the official handle of the Collector of Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh.
The Additional Collector (Local Bodies) of Nirmal District of Telangana, Mr. Faizan Ahmed also tweeted clarifying that the image is not from Telangana but Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. He also asked the users to stop spreading rumours and hate.
Conclusion
From our investigation, it is clear that the image being shared as poor condition of roads in Telangana is actually from Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh.
