Old Video Of Chirag Paswan Going Viral Linking To The Ongoing Bihar Assembly Elections.

After the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 (November 6), a video of Cabinet Minister Chirag Paswan went viral on social media. The video shows Chirag Paswan being arrested and taken in a Police van. A voiceover says in Hindi that Chirag Paswan has been arrested. Sharing the video, a user claimed that Chirag Paswan has been arrested for “Vote Chori” during the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was misleading. The viral video is old and unrelated to the ongoing Bihar Assembly Elections. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

At the beginning of our investigation, we searched for news reports on Chirag Paswan’s recent arrest. But, we couldn’t find any recent reports. 

During our search, we found a video report uploaded on the YouTube channel Bihar Tak on 15 February 2022. According to the caption, Chirag Paswan was arrested by the Police during his protest in Patna against Nitish Kumar.

We noticed similar visuals to the viral video in this YouTube video.

Moving forward, we found another video on a YouTube channel uploaded on 15 February 2022. Some of the visuals matched the viral video. Here Chirag Paswan can be heard saying “Karyakartaon par gaadi chalana ghalat hai (It’s wrong to drive over the party workers)”. A similar conversation can be heard in the viral video as well.

According to reports, Lok Janshakti Party leader Chirag Paswan was arrested on 15 February 2022 after police lathi-charged party workers who were holding a protest march in Patna to highlight the issue of unemployment in Bihar.

The protest march began from the JP roundabout near Gandhi Maidan and was headed towards Raj Bhavan in Patna.

This makes it clear that the viral video is old and unrelated to the ongoing Bihar Assembly Elections.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video of Chirag Paswan being arrested by the Police is old. He was arrested during a protest march in 2022. This has no link to the ongoing Bihar Assembly Elections.
