Old video of Pakistan soldier falsely shared linking to recent border clash with Afghanistan

This video has been available online since September 2025, it predates the recent border clashes.

Intense clashes erupted along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border on 8 October after an attack by the Afghan Taliban on Pakistani military posts led to a heavy exchange of fire and reportedly left dozens of soldiers dead. Against this backdrop, a video showing a Pakistan army officer breaking down while speaking at an event is going viral on social media. The users who share the video claims that it took place after the recent border clash between Afghanistan and Pakistan in October 2025.

Fact Check- 

We started the investigation with a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to the same video uploaded on Facebook by Pakistan Military Assets on 17 September. The description states, “Capt. Waqar Ahmad Kakar 142 L/C ex 47 Cav, 135 W Ghaznabad Scouts FC Balochistan, along with four of his wing’s soldiers embraced martyrdom in an IED attack in Balochistan. The Company Commander grew deeply emotional while remembering the life and supreme sacrifice of Capt. Waqar Kakar Shaheed.” 

This indicates that the viral video predates the border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan which took place in October.

Moving forward, we found the same video uploaded on an Instagram page on 19 September. The text on the video reads, “Major Izhar gets emotional in memory of Capt. Waqar Ahmad Kakar” 

Additionally, news reports from September 2025 confirm that an improvised explosive device (IED) blast targeted a Pakistani security forces vehicle in the Shand area of Mand, Balochistan. The explosion killed five military personnel: Captain Waqar Kakar, Naik Junaid, Naik Ismat, Lance Naik Khan Muhammad, and Sepoy Zahoo.
