However, as we investigated, we came to know that the viral video was digitally altered. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search.
A reverse image search of the first clip where Rahul Gandhi accused Nirmala Sitharaman of hiding a financial project from the people that can bring each citizen up to 25.5 Lakhs rupees per month. This led us to a video uploaded on the YouTube channel of Sansad TV on 1 July 2024. The caption of the video read, “Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks | Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address in #18thloksabha”.
The video matched the first clip of the viral video but, in this video, Rahul Gandhi showed a portrait of lord Shiva, not a paper on Quantum AI. Nowhere in the video did Rahul Gandhi mention the investment platform.
A comparison between the screenshot from the viral video and the original video can be seen below.
Moving forward, we conducted a reverse image search of the screenshot from the second clip in the viral video that shows the Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, stating that the investment platform is ready for the citizens of India. This led us to a video uploaded on the YouTube channel Nirmala Sitharaman on 12 March 2025. The video matches the viral video but the audio is different. The description of the video read, “Smt Nirmala Sitharaman’s reply to the Discussion on Supplementary Demands for Grant (SDG) Second Batch 2024-25, Demands for Excess Grants for 2021-22, Manipur Budget 2025-26 and SDG (Manipur) 2024-25 in Lok Sabha.”
Nowhere in the video did Nirmala Sitharaman mention the investment platform.
Conducting a reverse image search of the screenshots from the third clip, we found a video on the X handle of PTI on 17 March 2025. The video matches the viral video but, the audio is different. According to the caption, “Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed at the launch of the ‘Prime Minister Internship Scheme App’.”
The full version of the video can be seen below. Nowhere in the video did Nirmala Sitharaman mention the Quantum AI investment platform.
This makes it clear that the viral video has been edited.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the viral video is altered. The video of Rahul Gandhi and Nirmala Sitharaman discussing an investment platform during a parliamentary session has been edited. The viral video is a compilation of three different clips.
