A video of BJP leader and MP from New Delhi, Bansuri Swaraj, is going viral on social media. The video purports to show her leaving the stage during the playing of the national anthem. The users who share the video claimed that Bansuri Swaraj disrespected the national anthem.

The caption of the video states, “This is the true face of BJP’s patriotism!! This is BJP leader Banshuri, she was laughing during the national anthem and walked out midway”.

Fact Check-

We started our investigation with keyword and reverse image search on Google and we found a longer version of the video, spanning 1 minute and 17 seconds and posted by BJP politician Tajinder Bagga, clearly indicates that when the national anthem was being performed, there was a lack of coordination between those on stage and the audience. After that, Bansuri Swaraj called on them to maintain decorum and sing the anthem properly. Following her appeal, everyone, including Swaraj, began singing the anthem again.

As a misleading incomplete video went viral on social media, Bansuri Swaraj herself addressed the controversy on her Twitter account on 17 September 2025. The tweet reads, “An incomplete video is being circulated on social media. The truth is that I had insisted that the national anthem be sung in full and correctly. This is the complete video where we sang the full national anthem with pride and respect”.

Further investigation revealed that this video was from the Yuva Shankhnaad event organized by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha at the convention hall in Bihar’s Bodhgaya on 13 September.

So, it is evident that an incomplete video of BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj falsely shared with the claim that she disrespected the National Anthem.
