Recently, a video on social media shows people distributing flood relief while walking through neck-deep flood water. Sharing the video, users claimed that the video is from Punjab. A user wrote, “Those who were once defamed by BJP and RSS with crores spent on propaganda are today the ones helping flood victims in Punjab. Meanwhile, BJP and RSS are nowhere to be seen in relief efforts.”

However, as we investigated, we learned that the claim was false. The viral video is old and not from India. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a Facebook post where the viral video was uploaded on 25 August 2024. According to the Bengali caption, the video is from Bangladesh where the Madrasa students were helping the flood-affected people.
We found the same video uploaded on a YouTube channel on 25 August 2024. According to the description, the video shows the Madrasa students in Bangladesh helping the flood-affected people.
Another similar video can be seen here.
This makes it clear that this is an old video from Bangladesh.
Current flood situation in Punjab:
To provide immediate assistance to the flood-affected families in Punjab, the Punjab government has released compensation of Rs 2 crore to 50 families. According to Revenue Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian, 56 precious lives were lost in Punjab due to the devastating floods and compensation has been given to 50 of these families, while the remaining 6 families will also be given compensation soon. He said that the flood-affected people will be given full compensation for their losses. Mundian said that the floods have caused huge damage in Punjab. Keeping this situation in mind, the government has identified 2,303 villages where immediate measures for basic assistance and rehabilitation are necessary.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video is not from Punjab. This is an old video from Bangladesh.
