Fact Check

We started our investigation by conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a report published in The Indian Express on 17 August 2017 that contained the viral image. According to the report, the image shows a flood situation in Bihar.

Moving forward, we found a report published in The Hindu on 19 August 2017 that contained the viral image. The caption of the image read, “The death toll due to the floods is triggered by rains in Nepal and northern parts of the State. Picture shows A villager carrying grains on a banana raft as he shifts from a flooded village in Araria district of Bihar.”

According to reports, around 1.08 crore people were affected by the floods in Bihar in 2017.
