False Claim links MP BJP worker Nek Mohammad Rizvi to PM Modi Abuse Case in Bihar

A video showing a man using abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during a Congress rally in Darbhanga, Bihar, recently went viral.

Following public outrage, the Bihar police arrested the accused, identified as Mohammad Rizvi, also known as Raja, from Bhapura village in Darbhanga.

Soon after the arrest, several social media users started sharing a photo of a BJP worker claiming he was the same person caught abusing PM Modi’s mother.

Fact Crescendo received several requests from readers on our WhatsApp Helpline (9049053770) to verify this claim.

We found that the claim is false. The accused and the person whose photos are being shared are two different individuals. The arrested person is Mohammad Rizvi from Darbhanga, while the man whose photos are being falsely circulated is Nek Mohammad Rizvi, a BJP worker from Madhya Pradesh.

WHAT’STHE CLAIM?

In the viral posts, three photos are shared – two of a BJP worker and one of a man wearing a white vest sitting in police custody.

The caption claims, “Photos of Mohammad Rizvi (Raja), who abused Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, are going viral. All the photos on social media show that he is a BJP worker.”

After his photos went viral with the false claim, Nek Mohammad Rizvi released a video statement denying any connection to the Darbhanga incident.

He clarified, “Photos from my social media have been misused to spread fake news. I am not the person who was arrested in Bihar for using abusive language against PM Modi and his mother.”

He also lodged a complaint at the Kotma police station in Anuppur against those spreading misinformation using his photos.

While speaking to NDTV, he further clarified, “I have no connection with Bihar and have never visited the state. I have not abused anyone. Modi ji is our leader. My photos are being misused to defame me and the BJP.”

CONCLUSION

The viral posts falsely link BJP worker Nek Mohammad Rizvi from Madhya Pradesh to the PM Modi abuse case in Darbhanga, Bihar. The man arrested is Mohammad Rizvi from Darbhanga. The confusion appears to have spread due to the similarity in their names.
