This viral video of the spinning motorcycles is from Indonesia, not Jaipur

This video is unrelated to India. The incident occurred in the city of Pekanbaru, Indonesia.

A video of motorcycles stuck together and spinning on a road is going viral on social media with a claim that it shows recent visuals from Jaipur, Rajasthan. Users who share the post claims that it is a strange incident occurred in Jaipur’s Mansarovar area following an accident.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation by closely analysing the video and found a motorcycle with the licence plate BM 3675 FC in it. We discovered that BM is a vehicle registration code for the Riau province of Indonesia.

This indicates towards the possibility of the video not being recorded in India, as BM series is not used by any state in the country.

Moving forward, we found the same video uploaded on an Instagram page of local media account of Indonesia named PSNEWS. The caption states, “Two motorcycles had a unique accident on Jalan Arifin Ahmad, Pekanbaru, where the two motorcycles “sticked” to each other after colliding. As a result, the motorcycles spun around in the middle of the road and attracted the attention of local residents. There were no fatalities in this incident, but the riders suffered minor injuries. The vehicles involved suffered quite severe damage”.

We also found another local media report stating that the incident occurred at Jalan Arifin Ahmad in the city of Pekanbaru in Indonesia.

For further clarification we geolocated the place using Google Maps with the help of the ‘street view’ option, we found a place that looked similar to the viral video.

Thus, the viral video of the spinning motorcycles is from Indonesia, not India.
