Video of flooded metro station from Brazil goes viral linking to Mumbai rain

As heavy rains have disrupted public life in Mumbai, now linking to this a video of a flooded metro station is going viral on social media. In the video, people can be seen sitting on the railings to escape. This video is being shared with the claim that it shows the metro station in Mumbai.

Fact Check- 

By performing a reverse image search on Google, the results led us to a similar video uploaded on the official Twitter account of the Daily Mail  with the caption, “Intense flood in São Paulo, Brazil leaves commuters stranded” .This post was shared on 27 January, 2025”.

This indicates the viral video is not recent and related to Mumbai.

Moving forward, we found the same video on an Instagram post uploaded on 29 January 2025. The post mentions that, “The frightening scenes were filmed at the Jardim São Paulo-Ayrton Senna metro station in São Paulo, Brazil on Friday (24 Jan) afternoon”.

We also found a report regarding this on the Need to Know website, it was published on 27 January, 2025. It states, the video shows an incident on January 24 at the Jardim São Paulo-Ayrton Senna metro station in São Paulo, Brazil. Actually, due to extreme flooding in Brazil, a metro station wall crumbled and water entered. 

As per reports, the heavy rain that hit São Paulo on 24 January 2025 caused flooding in several areas of the city. 

So, based on these evidences, we can understand that the viral video is from Brazil and not related to the recent rain in Mumbai.

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. This incidence occurred following the January flood in Brazil. It has no link to Mumbai.
