This video shows a conflict between two parties at an electricity department’s office in Munak, Haryana and it dates back to 2020.

Following the Congress’s allegations of irregularities in the voter list, complaints have been received from various states regarding this. Against this backdrop, a video is now viral on social media showing a BJP MLA in Haryana being surrounded and beaten up by people for rigging the voting.

Fact Check- 

By closely observing the video, we came across a date stamp at the top-left side of the frame, where the year was shown as 2020. This indicates that the video is not recent and not related to the recent vote theft issues.

The, we started our investigation by conducting a keyword and reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a several news reports regarding this incident. According to the ANI news published on 23 July 2020, this incident took place in Karnal, Haryana. The people being beaten in the video are not BJP MLAs.

According to the report, in Gagsina village of Karnal, some villagers visited the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Haryana Electricity Department demanding that the transmission lines of the department be moved from the agricultural land. The video shows the CCTV footage of the SDO’s office. The SDO instructed the contractor to move these transmission lines away from the agricultural land of the farmers. While the villagers were discussing this matter in the SDO office, some unknown persons entered the office and beat up these villagers.

The same details mentioned in the Amar Ujala’s news also. The people who were beaten up in the video are not BJP MLAs but villagers. Zee News also reported this matter and you can see their news below. According to Zee News, the people who were beaten up are from the same village. The news says that the police have arrested 3 people in this incident.

So, taking account of all these evidences, we can understand that this is an old video of violence between two parties over a conflict in Haryana and it has no link to the vote theft conflict.
