Fact Check-

We began our investigation by conducting a reverse image search on Google, which led us to a similar video uploaded on a Facebook post claiming it to be from Tamil Nadu in September 2024. This video was shared with a Tamil caption. According to the caption, about 40 transgender women had gathered outside the Panagudi police station in Tirunelveli district. They had an argument with the police over something, due to which they were lathi-charged.

The post states, “It is reported that some transgender people intercepted a passerby near Panagudi on the national highway from Kavalkinaru area to Nagercoil in Nellai district and demanded money.

The Panagudi police, who were patrolling the area, chased them away. This led to an argument between the transgenders and the police. Shortly thereafter, more than 40 transgender people gathered at the Panagudi police station and started a riot by throwing stones and breaking flower pots there.

The police then tried to chase them away from there. At that time, a transgender woman protested by removing her clothes. As a result, the police lathi charged them and chased them away from there. This caused a commotion at the Panagudi police station”.

Using these hints, we conducted further searches and found several news reports from September 2024 regarding this incident. Screenshots of this video can be seen in a news uploaded on News Tamil 24X7’s YouTube channel on September 25, 2024. It was told here that the case was from Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, where the police lathi charged the protesting transgenders.

Thus, we can see that the viral video is old and depicts an old incident. It has no link to Bihar.

Conclusion-

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. This viral video is not from Bihar but from Panagudi in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu. When police clashed with transgenders during a demonstration outside a police station in September 2024.
