Old Video Of Asaduddin Owaisi Criticising Filmmakers Going Viral Linking To The Movie Udaipur Files.

A controversy erupted on the release of the film “Udaipur Files” which is based on the murder of a tailor Kanhaiya Lal in June 2022. The film was set to release on 11 July 2025. On July 10, the Delhi High Court stayed the release till the Centre decides on pleas seeking a permanent ban over the film’s potential to “promote disharmony” in society. The Supreme Court heard the matter on the release of the film ‘Udaipur Files’ on 16 July 2025. The Supreme Court has ordered not to release the film until the report of the panel constituted by the Central Government comes. The matter will now be heard on July 21.

Against this backdrop, a video of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi criticising the film-makers went viral on social media. In the video, Owaisi can be heard criticising the filmmakers for making films against Muslims. Sharing the video, users claimed that Asaduddin Owaisi was criticising the makers of the film “Udaipur Files”.

We noticed the hashtags used in the tweet include “Paliganj”, “Patna”, “Loksabha elections 2024” etc. Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to a video uploaded on the official YouTube channel of AIMIM on 27 May 2024. From around the timestamp 34:00, the viral clip can be seen.

The video shows Asaduddin Owaisi accusing the BJP government of making movies to defame Muslims. The description of the video read, “AIMIM President Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi addresses a public meeting in support of AIMIM candidate Farooq Raza at Vishwanath High School Ground Chandos-Paliganj Patna, Bihar”

This makes it clear that the viral video is old and unrelated to the movie Udaipur Files.

Conclusion

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show Asaduddin Owaisi criticising the makers of the film “Udaipur Files”. The viral video is old, which shows Owaisi addressing a public meeting in support of the AIMIM candidate Farooq Raza in Paliganj, Patna, Bihar during the Loksabha elections 2024.
