This is an old video from Pattaya, Thailand and it dates back to June 2022. It has no link to India.
A disturbing video of a dog attacking a small child is going viral on social media with the claim that this incident took place in Delhi’s Rohini area.
Fact Check-
We started the investigation with a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a similar video uploaded by a Thai news channel. The caption states “Pitbull drags foreign child by the neck, nanny stands by watching, owner shocked while opening trash can – 21/06/65.” The video was uploaded in June 2022. This confirms that the video is not recent and not from India.
Using these hints, we conducted keyword searches and found report of a Thailand-based news outlet Daily News from 21 June, 2022. The report featured the same video of a dog attacking a child as seen in the viral post. According to the report, the incident took place in a village in South Pattaya, where a two-year-old girl out for a walk with her nanny and older brother was brutally attacked by a large, unsecured house dog.
Next, we conducted searches for any recent reports regarding a dog attack on a child in Rohini, Delhi, but could not find any. An Instagram page of the Rohini community has also debunked this claim on 8 July.
Based on these evidences, we can understand that this incident happened in Pattaya, Thailand, not in Delhi.
Conclusion-
Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. This is an old video from Pattaya, Thailand and it dates back to June 2022. It has no link to India.
