A video on social media is going viral. In which Indian Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Rahul Singh confesses that India lost two S-400 in a recent conflict with Pakistan.
Fact Crescendo received several requests to verify such clips through its WhatsApp Tipline (9049053770).
After verification, it was found that the viral video was edited and Lieutenant General Rahul Singh did not make any such statement.
WHAT’S THE CLAIM?
In the viral video, Rahul Singh appears to say that India lost two S-400 missile systems in an operation against Pakistan.
Users writes in the caption when sharing this video, “Indian Deputy Army Chief Lt Gen Rahul Singh admits that India was currently in negotiations with Russia to get two more S-400 systems as two S-400 were lost on 10 May when Pakistan launched Marka e Haq in response to India’s Operation Sindoor.”
Fact-Check
First, a keyword search showed that no trusted news outlets reported any such statement by the Vice Chief of Army Staff.
Next, a reverse image search showed that Lt Gen Rahul Singh was actually speaking at an event organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
Hindustan Times shared a video of his speech from the same event on 4 July 2025.
We checked the full video and saw that at around 16 minutes, Rahul Singh says: “A few lessons that I thought I must flag as far as Operation Sindoor is concerned. Firstly, one border, two adversaries. So we saw Pakistan on one side, but adversaries were two—or actually four or three, actually. So Pakistan was the front face. We had China providing all possible support, and it’s no surprise because if you were to look at statistics, in the last five years, 81% of the military hardware that Pakistan is getting is all Chinese, 81% of that.”
However, here Rahul Singh does not talk about India losing the S-400 system during the military tension with Pakistan. Obviously, the statement has been altered by tampering with the original video.
FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) also issued a press release on 4 July 2025, about Lt Gen Rahul Singh’s speech at the event. Even in this, there is no mention of him saying that the Indian Army lost S-400 systems during tensions with Pakistan.
Also, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) also dismissed the viral claim in a post on X shared on 10 May 2025, stating that “reports of the S-400 system being destroyed or damaged are baseless.”
CONCLUSION
Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Rahul Singh did not say that India lost two S-400 missile systems in the recent clash with Pakistan. The viral video is altered.
