Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a longer version of the video uploaded on Facebook on 29 May 2025.
This makes it clear that the viral video predates June 2025.
Now, taking screenshots from this video, we conducted a reverse image search. This led us to a report published in the Iranian media, Mehr News Agency, on 31 July 2022 which contained an image similar to the screenshots from the Facebook video. According to the report, the image shows a flood situation in Iran.
Taking this clue we conducted a relevant keyword search which led us to another report published in Mehr News Agency on 30 July 2022.
