Kannada movie shooting video falsely shared as real visuals of police beating Dalits

This viral video shows the shooting of the Kannada movie Deadly Soma Part -2, not an actual incident.

A video of police beating a group of men wearing only undergarments in public on the road is going viral on social media. Users are sharing the video, alleging that the police are brutally beating Dalits in the middle of the road.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation by running a reverse image search on Google, whose results led us to a similar video uploaded on the KannadaPichhar YouTube channel. It was captioned “Deadly Soma 2 Movie Exclusive Making,” indicating that the viral video is actually from a movie shoot. 

Moving forward, we also found another video of the shooting of Deadly Soma Part-2 shared on the Instagram page of Kannada Pichhar on 15 April 2025.
This video features earlier shots where men in undergarments are seen running on the road, followed by police officers who later beat them in the middle of the street. Throughout the video, cinematographers and the filming crew can be seen around, confirming it’s part of a staged shoot. 

As per a report on Kannada.news.18 website dated 16 April, 2025, Deadly Soma Part -2 is directed by Ravi Srivatsa Ravi Srivatsa, a famous writer and director in Sandalwood (Kannada film industry), is directing the sequel of this film Deadly Soma. The report further states, Deadly Soma Part -2 is the sequel of the film ‘Deadly Soma’ released in 2005. Information about this film has also been given on the website of Kannada Filmi Beat. The video report of NEWS 26 KANNADA shows the visuals from the viral video of the shooting of the film.

Using hints from the video, we searched the location of the viral video on Google Maps and found that this is a video of City Market area of ​​Bengaluru.

So, we can understand that the viral video is not a real incident. A Kannada film shoot video from Karnataka is falsely shared as real footage of police beating Dalits.

Conclusion- Fact Crescendo found that the claim made along with the viral image to be Misleading. This viral video shows the shooting of the Kannada movie Deadly Soma Part -2, not an actual incident.
