A Madrasa Teacher Showing The Students A Comparison Between Hindustan And Islam? Here’s The Truth.

Recently an image allegedly showing a Madrasa teacher showing a comparison between Hinduism and Islam on a blackboard went viral on social media.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the image has been edited. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a report published in The Outlook on 10 April 2018 which contained an image similar to the viral image. But, the text on the blackboard was different. 

The report read, “With time, efforts to modernise madrasas are now being seen. This is being said when a school in Gorakhpur, UP…

This madrasa has become a centre of modern education, where Sanskrit is also taught along with Arabic and English

With time, efforts to modernise madrasas are now being seen. This is being said when changes are being seen in Darul Uloom Hussainia Madrasa in Gorakhpur, UP, due to which this madrasa is in the headlines.  

Actually, this madrasa has become a centre of modern education for children coming from the minority community, where apart from science, mathematics, English, Arabic, Hindi and Sanskrit are also being taught. Till now, perhaps it has never been heard that Sanskrit is also being taught in a madrasa. This madrasa comes under the UP Education Board…”

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to a report published in the Indiatimes on 10 April 2018 that contained an image similar to the viral image but, with a different text on the blackboard. The report read, “In a display of communal harmony, students at a Madrasa are learning Sanskrit in addition to Hindi, English, and Urdu. Students of Gorakhpur’s Darul Uloom Hussainia Madrasa said they have enjoyed learning the subject so far, and are being taught well by their teachers and students…”

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the viral image has been altered. The image doesn’t show a Madrasa teacher showing a comparison between Hinduism and Islam on a blackboard. The original image shows a teacher in Darul Uloom Hussainia Madrasa, Gorakhpur where along with Arabic, subjects like Sanskrit, Science, Mathematics, English and Hindi are taught.
