Old Image Shared As A Recent Attack On Israel By Hamas.

An image of an explosion went viral on social media claiming it to be a recent attack on Israel by Hamas amid the Iran-Israel conflict.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral image is old. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a report published on 4 December 2023 which contained an image similar to the viral image. 

The caption of the image reads, “Israel Hamas War (Representative Image)”

It makes it clear that the image is old.

Moving forward, we found another report published in India Today on 23 October 2023, which contained an image similar to the viral image. The caption of the image read, “Smoke and flames billow from targets hit in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza City, Oct. 10; (Photo: AP)”

This makes it clear that the viral image is old.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral image doesn’t show a recent conflict between Israel and Hamas. The image is old and has been available online since October 2023. According to reports, it shows an Israeli airstrike on Gaza.
