Old Unrelated Video Shared As Moments Before The AI171 Crash.

A video of two people in a cockpit facing severe turbulence went viral on social media. Sharing the video on social media, users claimed that the video shows the moments before the Air India AI171 flight crashed in Ahmedabad.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is old and unrelated to the Ahmedabad Plane Crash. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a longer version of the video uploaded on a YouTube channel on 4 June 2025.

At the beginning of this video, the person starts speaking in Malayalam. He said, “…we are going to fly with our captain today…”

After some time, he starts reciting an Islamic prayer.

The Ahmedabad Plane Crash took place on 12 June 2025. This makes it clear that the viral video predates the Ahmedabad Plane Crash.

Moving forward, conducting a reverse image search we found a longer version of the viral video on an Instagram handle “hananshah_family” uploaded on 15 May 2025. 

The user of the Instagram handle, Hanan Family, is a reel creator. The person in the viral video can be seen in all the other posts available on the Instagram handle.

The same video was uploaded on another Instagram handle featuring the same person.

This makes it clear that the viral video is old and unrelated to the Ahmedabad Plane Crash.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show the moments before the Air India AI171 flight crashed in Ahmedabad. The viral video is old and it has been available on the internet since 15 May 2025.
