Video of a fire in a company in Bharuch in Gujarat going viral linking to Ahmedabad plane crash

This video shows a fire that broke out in a company in Bharuch in April 2025. It has no connection with the Ahmedabad plane crash.

The Air India passenger plane from Ahmedabad to London carrying 242 passengers and crew crashed just moments after taking off from the Ahmedabad airport on 12 June resulting in the deaths of 241 people, with only one passenger surviving. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner flight crashed into a medical college hostel and its canteen complex.

Against this backdrop, a building engulfed in flames with thick fire is going viral on social media with the claim that it shows the hostel on which the plane fell. The users who share the video wrote, “’242 people died in the Ahmedabad plane crash and 20 doctors died in the hostel on which the plane fell”.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation by running a Google reverse image search with the key frames of the video and whose result us to a similar video uploaded on the Facebook page ABC News 24 x 7. It is said that this is a fire in a company in Bharuch, Gujarat. 

Using these hints, we conducted further searches and found several news reports regarding this incident. As per the report published on the website of news agency ANI on 14 April, a massive fire broke out in a chemical manufacturing unit in Bharuch. 

As per the Indian express report, “One person was killed at Jal Aqua Company after a major fire broke out at the chemical manufacturing unit in Bharuch on Monday morning. The blaze also spread to a neighbouring B R Agro unit. Both the firms were affected by the fire. Police said that as per fire officials, a short circuit might have led to the blaze”.

Apart from this, the Instagram handle ourgujaratnews shared the same video on 14 April and wrote, ‘A massive fire broke out in a company named Jal Aqua and BR Agro in Ankleshwar, Panoli.

Based on these evidences, we can understand that the video is unrelated to the Ahmedabad Air India plane crash.

Conclusion-

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. This video shows a fire that broke out in a company in Bharuch in April 2025. It is unrelated to the Ahmedabad Air India plane crash.
