Unrelated Video Going Viral As The Last Video Of The AI171 Crew.

A video went viral on social media claiming it to be the last reel of the cabin crew of the Air India flight AI 171 that crashed in Ahmedabad on 12 June 2025.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video predates the Ahmedabad Plane Crash and the crew members shown in the video are not the ones who died in the Plane Crash. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to an Instagram post where the viral video was uploaded on 9 June 2025. 

Going through the Instagram handle, we came to know that the user of the Instagram handle is Yashasvi Sharma, a flight attendant. She was the one who recorded the viral video. 

On 13 June 2025, in the comment section, Yashasvi wrote, “Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for reaching out – I’m safe and currently in Mumbai. I’m deeply shaken and heartbroken by what’s happened. It’s a very difficult time for us”

We found one more Instagram post on 14 June 2025 where she refuted the viral claim and requested people to report the video with the false claim.

Further investigation led us to a report where we found the names of the 12 crew members of the Air India flight AI171. The aircraft was under the command of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal with First Officer Clive Kunder. Two senior cabin crew members have been identified as Shradha Dhavan and Aparna Mahadik. The other cabin crew members were Saineeta Chakravarti, Nganthoi Kongbrailatpam Sharma, Deepak Pathak, Maithili Patil, Irfan Shaikh, Lamnunthem Singson, Roshni Songhare Rajendra, and Manisha Thapa. We didn’t find the name Yashasvi Sharma on the list. 

We found a video on “The Free Press Journal” YouTube channel sharing the details of the crew members of the Air India AI 171 flight who lost their lives in the plane crash.

This makes it clear that the viral video doesn’t show the crew members of the Air India flight AI171 that crashed in Ahmedabad recently.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video predates the Air India Plane Crash in Ahmedabad. Moreover, the video doesn’t show the crew members of the Air India flight AI171 that crashed in Ahmedabad on 12 June 2025.
