This video is from China and dates back to January. It has no connection to RCB’s victory celebrations.
On 3 June, 2025, RCB defeated Punjab Kings by six runs to win their first Indian Premier League title after 18 years of competition. The team’s and fans’ celebratory event in Bangalore on 4 June turned tragic when a stampede occurred at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, resulting in several injuries and 11 deaths. In this scenario, a video of a massive crowd dressed in red is going viral on social media, with users claiming it shows RCB’s victory celebrations at Chinnaswamy Stadium following their victory.
Let’s check the truth
Fact Check-
We began our investigation with a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a similar video uploaded on a YouTube channel on 1 January 2025. A text overlay on the video reads, “NANCHANG, CHINA, DECEMBER 31, 2024”. The caption of the video reads, “Thousands gather in Nanchang city centre releasing balloons to celebrate the New Year”.
Upon further search we found the same video was uploaded on an Instagram handle on 1 January 2025. The caption of the post read, “Nanchang, Jiangxi, welcome 2025. Happy New Year 2025!”
Upon closely watching the original video, we noticed that something was written in the Chinese language on a building. When we translated it, we got to know that “Happy New Year” was written there. This makes it clear that the viral video is not from Bangalore.
Based on all these evidences, we can understand that an old video from China is falsely shared as one from Bengaluru showing people celebrating RCB’s win in IPL 2025.
Furthermore, the video was uploaded long before of the 2025 IPL season, which began on March 22 and ended on June 3. This clearly shows that the viral video precedes RCB’s IPL victory and is unrelated to any celebrations Bangalore.
Conclusion-
Fact Crescendo found that the claim made along with the video to be Misleading. This video is from China in January and it has no connection to RCB’s victory celebrations.
