However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is unrelated to Guwahati. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to several social media posts where the viral video was mentioned to be from Mumbai.

Going through the video, we noticed “CR” is written on the train coaches. Moreover, the train in the video looked like the Mumbai Local Train.

In the context of Mumbai’s local train system, “CR” stands for Central Railway. The Central Railway (CR) local train system in Mumbai is a vital part of the Mumbai Suburban Railway, offering a network of commuter services across the city and surrounding areas.

The images of the Mumbai Local Train can be seen here.

We found an Instagram post where the viral video was uploaded on 26 May 2025.

We took a screenshot from this video and noticed a signboard in the top left corner. We found the name of the station “Masjid” written on the signboard.

This makes it clear that the video is from the Masjid Station in Mumbai.

According to reports, on 26 May 2025, heavy rainfall caused waterlogging in the Masjid Bandar station along with a few other parts of Mumbai.

Although we couldn’t verify the exact date of the viral video, it’s clear that the video is from Mumbai, not from Guwahati.
