However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was misleading. The viral video is old and unrelated to Operation Sindoor. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a report published on 17 August 2023, which contained images similar to the screenshots from the viral video. According to the report, the video went viral in August 2023. Although the report didn’t mention the exact date and location of the video, it is clear that the video is unrelated to Operation Sindoor.

We found the viral video uploaded on Reddit on 16 August 2023.

We found a report published on India Today on 15 August 2023 that contained images similar to the screenshots from the viral video and the viral video itself. The report read, “In a heartwarming display of familial love and religious tradition, a Sikh family recently rolled out the red carpet to welcome home their son, who had just completed his initiation into the ranks of the military. The young soldier returned to his roots, greeted by the warmth of his family and the familiar customs of his faith.

Shared on Twitter by Sandeep Thapar, the video shows the young Sikh soldier’s homecoming. The soldier’s homecoming was marked by a poignant moment when he knelt down before his elders, seeking their blessings…”

Other reports can be seen here and here.

Although we couldn’t find the exact date and location of the video, it is clear that the video has been there on the internet since at least August 2023.

Conclusion

This makes it clear that the claim is misleading. The video of the Sikh soldier being welcomed by his family is not related to Operation Sindoor. The video is old. It has been there on the internet since at least August 2023.
