Has Jyoti Malhotra actually beaten up by people? Know the truth

This is a video from Bangladesh in February 2025, showing a woman being beaten for opposing the demolition of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s residence. 

Jyoti Malhotra, a travel vlogger and YouTuber from Haryana was arrested on 17 May, on charges of espionage for Pakistan. Against this backdrop, a video of several people beating up a woman is going viral on social media with the claim that this woman is Jyoti Malhotra, and this is a video of people beating her up. The caption states, “Youtuber Jyoti Malhotra, the traitor of the country, was beaten up badly by people”.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to an extended version of this video uploaded on the YouTube channel of Bangladeshi news channel Protidiner Bangladesh on 6 February 2025. Along with which it was informed that the woman was beaten up because she was a supporter of Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League party, while she was protesting the demolition of Dhanmondi 32.

Moving forward, we found several news reports regarding this incident detailing the same information.

According to reports , Dhanmondi 32, the historic residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, father of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was attacked and vandalized on 5 February 2025. 

So, this is a Bangladeshi video. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s residence was demolished in February 2025. This video was taken at the time when individuals were beating up a woman protesting the demolition. It has no link to Jyoti Malhotra.

We can understand that an old video from Bangladesh is being shared claiming it to be of Jyoti Malhotra.

Fact Crescendo found that the claim made along with the viral video to be False. This is a video from Bangladesh in February 2025, showing a woman being beaten for opposing the demolition of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s residence. It has no link to Jyoti Malhotra
