This video shows a fire on the Tezgam Express train in Pakistan’s Punjab region caused by a gas stove explosion in 2019.
Following the recent escalation in the 2025 India-Pakistan conflict, a video showing several train carriages engulfed in flames is going viral on social media with the claim that it shows a Pakistani train set on fire by people of Jammu.
Fact Check-
We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a similar video uploaded on YouTube on 31 October 2019 by Voice of America. The caption states, “Flames Engulf Pakistan Passenger Train in Deadly Blaze”. The description part mentions that, “Officials in Pakistan say at least 74 people have been killed and dozens more injured after fire engulfed a passenger train near Pakistan’s Rahimyar Khan city in eastern Punjab province. The train was traveling from the southern city of Karachi to Rawalpindi when the disaster struck”.
This indicates that the viral video is not recent and it has no link to the recent India-Pakistan tension.
Moving forward, we found several news reports regarding this incident. As per reports from 2019, “At least 74 people were killed and dozens wounded after cooking gas cylinders exploded on a train packed with religious pilgrims in central Pakistan. Some of the passengers – many of whom were religious pilgrims travelling to a congregation in the eastern city of Lahore – had been cooking breakfast when two of their gas cylinders exploded, said Ali Nawaz, a senior Pakistan Railways official”.
So, based on these evidences, we can understand that a 2019 video of a train fire accident in Pakistan is falsely shared as a Pakistani train set on fire by people of Jammu amid India-Pakistan tensions
Conclusion-
Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. This video shows a fire on the Tezgam Express train in Pakistan’s Punjab region caused by a gas stove explosion in 2019. It has no link to the recent India-Pakistan tension.
