Old Video Of An LPG Tanker Explosion Going Viral As Situation In Lahore After India’s Attack.

A video of a massive fire and smoke went viral on social media, claiming it to be a recent situation in Lahore after an Indian missile attack.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was misleading. The viral video is old and unrelated to the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a Facebook post where a video similar to the viral video was uploaded on 30 March 2020. The translation of the Arabic caption of the video reads, “An LPG container accident occurred in Shahdara and caught fire, due to which the Shahdara petrol pump and rickshaw stand were reduced to ashes. The loss of life is not yet known, but the financial loss was huge.”

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to a YouTube channel where the viral video was uploaded on 25 March 2020. According to the caption, it shows an LPG tanker blast incident in Lahore.

According to a report on 26 March 2020, A massive explosion occurred at Shahdara petrol pump after a massive fire broke out minutes after a leakage of LPG from an overturned tanker. One person was killed and 10 others, including a traffic warden, were injured in the blast. 

According to police and eyewitnesses, the LPG tanker overturned near a petrol pump at Shahdara Mor, due to which a large amount of gas started leaking from its tank and the leaked gas accumulated in large quantities at the petrol pump, causing a fire.

This makes it clear that the viral video is old and unrelated to the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video doesn’t show an Indian attack on Lahore, Pakistan. The video is old, and it shows an LPG tanker blast incident in Lahore, Pakistan.
