False

An old video of Iran attacking Israel is being falsely shared on social media as a recent video of Pakistan attacking Amritsar.

In a terrorist attack that occurred in Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, militants targeted tourists based on their religion, resulting in the deaths of 26 people. In response, India launched “Operation Sindoor” on May 6, 2025, conducting airstrikes on nine sites in Pakistan and POK. Pakistan had claimed that it shot down five Indian Airforce jets.

Against this backdrop, a video of a place facing bombardment at night is going viral on social media. Users are claiming that this is a video of Pakistan retaliating by attacking Amritsar.

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is an old video of war between Israel and Iran and not related to the India-Pakistan war or Operation Sindoor.

Sharing the video, a user wrote, “”Pakistan strikes military base in Amritsar. Numerous casualties reported, with several critically injured.”

Fact Check-

A Google Reverse Image Search on a keyframe led us to the same video uploaded on 14 April 2024 on Excelsior News’ YouTube Channel. According to the information, this is a video of Iran attacking Israel. Iran launched a volley of over 200 cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and drones toward Israel. Below you can see the video.

According to the Business Line news report, in April 2024, Iran launched a massive missile and drone attack on Israel in retaliation for an Israeli airstrike on its consulate in Damascus. The attack, called “Operation True Promise,” involved around 350 projectiles, including drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. Despite the scale of the attack, casualties were limited—a 7-year-old girl was seriously injured, and some people were treated for minor injuries and anxiety. There was some damage to military infrastructure, including airbases.

However, a tweet from 2024 carrying the screenshots from the viral video reads, “A video broadcast by Iran’s state TV tonight claiming to show the impact of Iran’s retaliatory attack on Israel “minutes ago” is old. In fact, it shows fire in Texas and was published in March.

Conclusion:

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is an old video from 2024 and not related to current India Pakistan war or Operation Sindoor
