2019 video of Pak soldiers with white flags retrieve bodies near LoC falsely shared as Indian Army

This is an old video from September 2019, when the Pakistani army raised white flag at LoC to retrieve bodies of 2 dead soldiers.

India launched missile strikes on nine terrorist targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir in the wee hours of Wednesday, 7 May 2025. The attacks, known as Operation Sindoor, were carried out in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. Following the attack, social media was flooded with videos related to the strike. Against this backdrop, a video of soldiers holding a white flag and retrieving bodies is going viral on social media with the claim that the Indian Army raised white flags at the Line of Control to recover the bodies of their fallen soldiers.

Let’s check the truth.

Fact Check-

We started our investigation by performing a reverse image search with the key frames of the viral video and the results led us to the same video uploaded by NDTV on 14 September, 2019. The title reads, “Video Shows Pak Soldiers With White Flags Retrieve Bodies Near LoC”.

The description part states, “Pakistani soldiers waved a white flag as they emerged against the silhouette of a grassy knoll to retrieve the bodies of their colleagues, who were shot dead by Indian soldiers in retaliation to ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC), sources said”.

This indicates that the viral video is old and not related to the recent airstrike by India on Pakistan.

Moving forward, we also found a Tweet by ANI stating the same information along with the viral video uploaded in 2019 September. The post states, “Hajipur Sector: Indian Army killed two Pakistani soldiers in retaliation to unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan. Pakistani soldiers retrieved the bodies of their killed personnel after showing white flag”.

As per the news reports, Pakistan, on the intervening night of September 10 and 11, violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Hajipur sector of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Pakistan’s ceasefire violation prompted strong and effective retaliation by the Indian Army.

After two Pakistani soldiers were killed by the Indian Army in retaliatory firing, Pakistan was forced to raise a white flag at the LoC to retrieve bodies of its soldiers.

All these evidences confirms that the viral video is old and not related to the recent airstrike by India on Pakistan.

Conclusion-

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. This is an old video from September 2019, which shows Pakistani soldiers retrieving the bodies of their personnel after displaying a white flag in Hajipur sector.
