In a terrorist attack that occurred in Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, militants targeted tourists based on their religion, resulting in the deaths of 26 people. In response, India launched “Operation Sindoor” on May 6, 2025, conducting airstrikes on nine sites in Pakistan and POK. Pakistan had claimed that it shot down five Indian Airforce jets.
Against this backdrop, a video of a fighter jet crash is going viral. It can be seen that people are trying to rescue pilots of the crashed jet. Users are claiming that this is a Pakistan Airforce Fighter jet JF-17 which was shot down by the Indian Airforce during Operation Sindoor.
However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is an old incident from Pakistan where a training fighter jet crashed in the Punjab province.

A Google Reverse Image Search led us to the same video uploaded on a Twitter Handel named ‘Nepal Correspondence on 15 April 2025.’ The caption of the tweet reads, “A Pakistan Air Force Mirage V ROSE fighter of No.50 SQN, has crashed near Basti Ratta Tibba in Vehari. The aircraft took off from PAF Base Rafiqui. Both pilots onboard ejected safely.”
A keyword search on Google led us to India Tv News report on 16 April 2025. According to the report, a Pakistan Air Force Mirage V ROSE fighter jet crashed during a routine training mission near Ratta Tibba in Vehari district, Punjab province, approximately 350 km southwest of Lahore. Both pilots successfully ejected before the crash, sustaining minor injuries, and were promptly taken to a nearby army hospital. This incident took place due to technical fault.
Conclusion:
