The recent Pahalgam terror attack took the lives of at least 26 people amongst which an Indian Navy officer Vinay Narwal lost his life too. Against this backdrop, a video of a couple dancing in meadows went viral on social media claiming it to be the last video of Vinay Narwal with his wife in Pahalgam.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video doesn’t show Vinay Narwal and his wife. The video shows a different couple. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by conducting a reverse image search and a relevant keyword search. This led us to an Instagram post by a user Ashish Sehrawat. The video shows Ashish Sehrawat and his wife Yashika Sharma. They said that the viral video claiming to be of Vinay Narwal was actually theirs. The caption of the post reads, “Hey guys we are alive and wanted to address a recent video we posted that unfortunately sparked a lot of hatred, leading us to delete it.

Sadly, the video was misused by multiple pages and news channels, falsely claiming it was the last video of late Vinay sir and his wife. Our heartfelt condolences go out to their family. We kindly request that you report any pages misusing our video, as it’s truly

disheartening. It’s shocking to see even reputable news channels and pages using unverified content for views, making it challenging to trust news sources.”

We contacted the profile of Ashish Sehrawat and asked him about the viral video. He said, “We’ve actually deleted the video after the hatred we were getting” and shared a screenshot of the video which was recorded on 14 April 2025. Sharing the screenshot, he said, “This is the proof that it was shot on 14th April from our phone”.

This makes it clear that the viral video doesn’t show the last video of Pahalgam terror attack victim Vinay Narwal with his wife.
