However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is old and unrelated to the recent violence in West Bengal. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to an Instagram post where the viral video was uploaded on 17 February 2025. In the comment section, a user thanked Sangli Police.

The video was uploaded on 17 February, which predates the recent violence in West Bengal.

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to a video report uploaded on YouTube on 19 February 2025. The viral clip can be seen in the YouTube video. The description of the video reads, “In Sangli, just four police officers managed to disperse thousands of unruly miscreants, preventing a potentially chaotic situation. Their swift action averted a major crisis.”

According to a report published in The Times of India, “Hundreds of motorcycle riders returning to Sangli from an annual fair in Karnataka blaring their horns and cheering loudly at 2 am got a taste of police action. Police resorted to lathicharge on the rowdy motorcyclists and nearly 45 people sustained minor injuries. Many even abandoned their two-wheelers.”

Other reports can be seen here and here.

This makes it clear that the viral video is old and unrelated to the recent violence in West Bengal.

Conclusion

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show Bajrang Dal members reaching West Bengal recently. The video is old and from Sangli, Maharashtra, where hundreds of motorcycle riders were returning from an annual fair in Karnataka.
