Recently a video of a woman police officer and a man arguing went viral on social media. The police officer asked the man why such a huge crowd was gathered where a policeman was injured too along with innocent people. She blamed him for breaking the law and order. She said that they will take legal action against the lawbreakers. Then the man told the woman police officer not to threaten him. However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is not from West Bengal. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a report published in The Times of India on 12 April 2025 that contained an image similar to the screenshots from the viral video. According to the report, the incident took place in Unakoti district of Tripura. On 12 April, a rally against the Waqf Amendment Act turned violent, leaving two policemen injured.  According to officials, a rally of members of the Muslim community started in Tillabazar and reached Kubjhar to protest the recently passed Waqf Amendment Act, demanding its immediate withdrawal. The protest began peacefully but took an unexpected turn when the demonstrators, who were not authorised to take out the rally, began marching towards Kailashahar town.
