However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is old and unrelated to the recent land-clearing drive in Kancha Gachibowli, Telangana. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a YouTube channel where the viral video was uploaded on 6 October 2023.

We found a longer version of the video on another YouTube channel uploaded on 2 August 2018. From around the timestamp 6:45, the viral clip can be seen. The description of the video read, “This elephant was attacked by a another fellow tusker in Horoupothana. A team of wildlife officers injecting medicine to the animal as a treatment for the wounds but unfortunately the animal died due to sever injuries.”

This makes it clear that the viral video is old and not related to the recent land-clearing drive in Kancha Gachibowli.

Conclusion

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show an elephant being moved by an excavator in Kancha Gachibowli recently. The video is old and has been on the internet since 2018.
