However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is from Uttarakhand and predates the passing of the Waqf Amendment Bill. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a Facebook post where the viral video was uploaded on 22 March 2025. According to the caption, on 22 March 2025, the Bhagwanpur Tehsil administration took action against the illegal Madrasas.

It is worth mentioning that Bhagwanpur is a Town, Tehsil, and Taluka in Haridwar district in the state of Uttarakhand. Moreover, the Waqf Amendment Bill was passed on 4 April 2025. This makes it clear that the video predates the passing of the Waqf Amendment Bill.

Taking this clue and using relevant keywords, we found the same video on another Facebook page. The post mentioned the video as from Uttarakhand.

According to a video report uploaded on the official YouTube channel of DD News Uttarakhand on 26 March 2025, in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, the administration took action against the illegal Madrasas. In the report, we could spot the officials in the viral video.

Moreover, “Uttarakhand Police” was written on the uniform of the police officers in the viral video.

A report on the incident can be read here.

This makes it clear that the viral video is not from Uttar Pradesh but from Uttarakhand and predates the passing of the Waqf Amendment Bill.

The video shows the Bhagwanpur Tehsil Administration, Uttarakhand taking action against the illegal Madrasas in March 2025. The video predates the passing of the Waqf Amendment Bill.
