Video From Bhagwanpur Tehsil, Uttarakhand, Going Viral As UP Police Against Madrasas After The Passage Of The Waqf Amendment Bill.

Recently a video went viral on social media with the claim that after the passing of the Waqf Amendment Bill, action against the Madrasas in Uttar Pradesh has been started. The video shows a group of police officers entering the premises of a Muslim man and the Muslim man bringing some documents from a room where “Office” was written. Sharing the video on Facebook, users wrote, “Action against madrassas begins in Uttar Pradesh after passage of Waqf Bill”

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is from Uttarakhand and predates the passing of the Waqf Amendment Bill. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a Facebook post where the viral video was uploaded on 22 March 2025. According to the caption, on 22 March 2025, the Bhagwanpur Tehsil administration took action against the illegal Madrasas.

It is worth mentioning that Bhagwanpur is a Town, Tehsil, and Taluka in Haridwar district in the state of Uttarakhand. Moreover, the Waqf Amendment Bill was passed on 4 April 2025. This makes it clear that the video predates the passing of the Waqf Amendment Bill.

Taking this clue and using relevant keywords, we found the same video on another Facebook page. The post mentioned the video as from Uttarakhand.

According to a video report uploaded on the official YouTube channel of DD News Uttarakhand on 26 March 2025, in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, the administration took action against the illegal Madrasas. In the report, we could spot the officials in the viral video.

Moreover, “Uttarakhand Police” was written on the uniform of the police officers in the viral video.

This makes it clear that the viral video is not from Uttar Pradesh but from Uttarakhand and predates the passing of the Waqf Amendment Bill.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The video is not from Uttar Pradesh but from Uttarakhand. The video shows the Bhagwanpur Tehsil Administration, Uttarakhand taking action against the illegal Madrasas in March 2025. The video predates the passing of the Waqf Amendment Bill.
