Old Video Of A Person Attacking Nitish Kumar Going Viral As Recent.

Recently a video of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar being attacked by a person went viral on social media. Sharing the video on Facebook, a user wrote, “Bihar CM Nitish Kumar was slapped by a youth because he supported Modi”.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The video is old and the person who attacked Nitish Kumar was a ‘mentally unstable’ person as per reports. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by conducting a relevant keyword search. This led us to a video report uploaded on the official YouTube channel of NDTV on 27 March 2025. The viral clip can be seen there. According to the description, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was attacked by a man on 27 March 2022 in his hometown Bakhtiyarpur. The man, who was caught in CCTV camera, had been arrested.

The same video was uploaded on the official YouTube of Hindustan Times on 28 March 2022. According to the description, the person who attacked Nitish Kumar was identified as Shankar Kumar Verma. Initial investigation revealed that he was a ‘mentally unstable’ person. Nitish Kumar directed his officials not to take any action against him.

This makes it clear that the viral video is old and there was no political aspect to it.
