Misleading

An old image from 2011 shared as Pakistanis died in the recent Balochistan Liberation Army attack.

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) recently carried out a deadly attack on Pakistan. On March 11, they hijacked a train and took about 500 passengers hostage, leading to a violent clash. Later, on March 16, they attacked a security force convoy, killing several officers and civilians.

Against this backdrop, a photo is going viral on social media showing several dead bodies lying in coffins in a field covered with Pakistani flags. Users are claiming that these are the bodies of Pakistanis who were killed in an attack by the Balochistan Liberation Army.

However, Fact Crescendo found the viral claim to be misleading. An old photo from 2011 is being shared as an image of Pakistani army members who were killed in a recent Baloch Liberation Army attack in Pakistan.

Fact Check-

A Google Reverse Image Search led us to the same image published on the Independent website on 11 February 2011. According to the report, a Taliban suicide bomber, dressed as a schoolboy, entered the military training center in Pakistan and detonated his explosives among the soldiers, killing 31 army cadets.

According to France 24 report, a suicide bomber attacked an army camp in Pakistan, killing several soldiers. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in retaliation for military action against them. The attack was part of a wave of violence in the region linked to the Taliban and al-Qaeda.

Conclusion:

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be misleading. An old image of Pakistani soldiers who died in a terrorist attack in 2011 shared as a recent incident during the Balochistan Liberation Army attack.
