The viral video shows a 2022 train attack in Balochistan, it is unrelated to the March 2025 hijack of the Jaffar Express in Pakistan.
On 11 March 2025, the Jaffar Express, a Pakistani passenger train travelling from Quetta to Peshawar with about 440 people on board, was hijacked by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). The attackers reportedly detonated explosives in tunnels and on the train tracks before opening fire on the train. According to officials, at least 71 people, including eight soldiers and all attackers, were killed in the attack and 37 others were injured. Amidst this, a video has gone viral on social media which claims to show the visuals of the hijacked train.

We started our investigation by running a Google reverse image search, whose result led us to a Twitter post containing the viral video. This was posted on 15 April 2022 with a text that reads, ‘BLA has released footage of an IED attack on Train carrying FC (Frontier Corps) near Sibbi, Balochistan.’
Moving forward, we found a 2022 report containing the viral video. As per the report states, “Footage released by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist group operating in the Pakistan Baluchistan region, shows an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on a train they claimed was carrying Pakistani troops on Jan. 18, 2022”.
This confirms that the video is not recent it has not related to the recent train hijacking in Pakistan.
Upon further search, we found several reports about this incident from March 2022, about an IED blast happened on 15 March 2022 in the Sibi district of Pakistan.
Taking account of all these evidences, we can understand that the video is neither recent nor related to the recent train hijack incident.
