Fact Check

We started our investigation by conducting a relevant keyword search. This led us to a video similar to the viral video on the Facebook page MyGovIndia uploaded on 11 March 2025. In the video, the group can be heard singing a Bhojpuri traditional folk. The caption of the video read, “𝐁𝐢𝐡𝐚𝐫’𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐄𝐜𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐮𝐬!

PM Narendra Modi received a traditional Bihari welcome in Mauritius, greeted with the soulful tunes of Bhojpuri Geet Gawai—celebrating deep-rooted cultural ties.

A similar video was uploaded on the official YouTube of PMO India on 11 March 2025. There also, the group can be heard performing a Bhojpuri folk, not the Hindi song “Mehngai Dayain”.

Further, we found the exact video on the official YouTube of Narendra Modi uploaded on 11 March 2025. From the timestamp 1:20, the viral clip can be seen where the group was performing a Bhojpuri folk, not the Hindi song “Mehngai Dayain”.

A comparison between the viral video and the original video can be seen below.

In the viral video, in the top right corner, a watermark “NETAFLIX” can be seen. Taking this clue, we searched using relevant keywords and found the X account where the viral video was uploaded. The user replied to a comment that the video had been edited.

Conclusion

From our investigation, we can say that the video has been altered. The group was not performing the Hindi song “Mehngai Dayain” in front of PM Narendra Modi in Mauritius. In the original video, the group was performing “Geet Gawai”, a Bhojpuri folk.
