Old Video From Pakistan Going Viral As Telangana.

Recently a video of a mob trying to enter a multi-storey building forcefully went viral on social media. Sharing the video, users are claiming that the video is from Telangana and the mob is entering the houses of the Hindus with the slogan “Sar Tan Se Juda”(Head separated from the body).

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The video is old and not from Telangana, but from Pakistan. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a report published in The Tribune on 23 August 2022 that contained an image similar to the screenshots from the viral video. 

The report read, “A Hindu sanitation worker, who escaped lynching by a mob of Islamic extremists in Pakistan’s Sindh province, has been arrested over alleged blasphemy following a personal clash with a local resident, police said on Monday.

Ashok Kumar was arrested after the extremist group Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) on Sunday staged protests in front of a building housing Hindu families over the alleged blasphemy incident that took place in Hyderabad city on Friday. Police used force to disperse the violent mob, a police official said, adding that the sanitary worker was targeted because of a personal clash with a local resident…”

Moving forward, we found a report published in The Economic Times on 22 August 2022 that contained an image similar to the screenshots from the viral video. Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The video of a mob trying to enter a multi-story building is not from Telangana. It’s an old video from Pakistan.
