The viral video was edited. In the original video, which was shared in April 2024, Mohammed Shami greets everyone a happy Eid.

A video of Indian cricketer Mohammad Shami is going viral on social media, with a claim that it shows him explaining why he broke his fast (Roza) during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. In the video, Shami appears to say, “Yes, I broke roza that day. Muslim brothers and sisters, please do not misunderstand me. I did not do it on purpose. I was forced to break roza, otherwise, they would have destroyed my career. I apologise to my Muslim brothers and sisters again.”
