On 20 February 2025, India won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match between India and Bangladesh. Against this backdrop, a video of a fight among the players in the playground went viral on social media claiming it to be the scuffle between the Indian and Bangladeshi players after the match.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The video is old and not related to the recent match between India and Bangladesh in the ICC Champions Trophy. Here’s the Fact Check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a longer version of the video on a YouTube channel uploaded on 10 February 2020. The caption of the video reads, “Watch Physical fight between India and Bangladesh under 19 players in U19 World Cup Final”

Taking this clue, using relevant keywords we found a report published in The Times of India on 10 February 2020. The report contained the viral video. According to the report, “In an unfortunate incident, the Indian and Bangladesh players almost came to blows after the under-19 World Cup Final match. Bangladesh players were overtly aggressive while fielding and even sledged Indian batsmen, especially lead pacer Shoriful Islam. After the match, Bangladeshi players rushed to the ground and most of them were still displaying aggressive body language. Reports indicate that one Indian player rushed to confront and pushed a Bangladeshi player who had allegedly said uncharitable things. Bangladesh beat India in the final to win their first U-19 World Cup.”
