Yamuna Aarti Performed For The First Time In Delhi Recently? No, It Was First Performed In The Year 2015.

Following the victory of the BJP in the Delhi Assembly Elections, a video of Yamuna Aarti went viral on social media claiming it to be the first-ever Yamuna Aarti in Delhi. Sharing the video on Facebook, a user wrote, “Today, for the first time in Delhi, Yamuna ji’s Aarti was seen. It is hoped that the people of Delhi will now get to see Yamuna ji’s Aarti. That means, Delhi will soon become Indraprastha”

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was misleading. Yamuna Aarti has been regularly performed since 2024 in Delhi. Here’s the Fact Check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by conducting a relevant keyword search. This led us to an Instagram post on 26 March 2024 according to which Yamuna Aarti in Delhi is performed in Vasudev Ghat.

We found one more video featuring a place similar to the viral video. According to the video, the Yamuna Aarti in Delhi is performed in Vasudev Ghat every Tuesday and Sunday at 6:30 pm.

The comparison between the screenshots from the viral video and other videos that we found can be seen below.

According to reports, the Vasudev Ghat was inaugurated for tourists in the year 2024. 

Further, we found a news report published in The Economic Times on 9 November 2015. According to the report, the then-Delhi Government planned to hold the first-ever Yamuna Aarti on 13 November 2015.

We found a Facebook post on the official Facebook page of Aam Aadmi Party on 13 November 2015. According to the post, the then-Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal hosted and conducted the first Yamuna Aarti at Gita Ghat on 13 November 2015.

This makes it clear that the claim is misleading. The Yamuna Aarti has been regularly performed in the Vasudev Ghat in Delhi since 2024.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. Yamuna Aarti was not performed for the first time after the victory of the BJP in the Delhi Elections recently. Yamuna Aarti in Vasudev Ghat in Delhi has been performed regularly since 2024. Moreover, Arvind Kejriwal first performed Yamuna Aarti in the year 2015.
