Old video from Radha Rani Temple in Barsana falsely shared as huge crowd in Prayagraj Mahakumbh

The viral video shows a crowd at Shri Radha Rani Temple in Barsana, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.

Mahakumbh Mela 2025 officially commenced on 13 January, 2025 continuing until 26 February, 2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The mela is held every 12 years and attracts millions of pilgrims, saints, and tourists. 

Following the tragic stampede on 29 January 2025 which resulted in multiple casualties, the Uttar Pradesh government has enforced strict crowd control measures, including the cancellation of VIP passes and the implementation of no-vehicle zones to ensure devotees’ safety. Amidst this, a video of a narrow, overcrowded lane has gone viral on social media with the claim that it is the crowd at Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, such were the arrangements where devotees were not even able to move.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation with a reverse image search on google and the results led us to a similar video uploaded on a YouTube channel on 1 January, 2025. The thumbnail of the video suggests that the video is of Shri Radha Rani Temple in Barsana.

Moving forward, we found the same video was also uploaded by an Instagram user on 2 January, 2025. The caption clearly mentioned that it was from Barsana Dham.

We further found that the same video was also uploaded on the Radharani Barsanaa, which belongs to a spiritual and motivational speaker Shyam Sundar Goswami. It was also uploaded on 1 January before the beginning of Kumbh mela.

Based on these evidences, we can understand that the viral video is old and not related to the Prayagraj Mahakumbh.

Conclusion- 

Fact crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be Misleading. The viral video shows a crowd at Shri Radha Rani Temple in Barsana, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. It is not related to the Prayagraj Mahakumbh.
