Congress Party Leaders Celebrating Defeat? Here’s The Truth.

After the Delhi Assembly Elections results, a video of Congress party leaders dancing went viral on social media. Sharing the video, users are claiming that Delhi Congress leaders are celebrating even after the defeat in the Delhi Assembly Elections. Sharing the video on Facebook, a user wrote, “Whenever you feel low, watch this congress video celebrating their 4.5% vote share in Delhi”

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was misleading. The video predates the Delhi Assembly Elections Result. Here’s the Fact Check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a tweet on 23 January 2025 that contained the viral video. The caption of the tweet reads, “Dance of Delhi President Devendra Yadav, Pawan Khera and candidate Ragini Nayak on Delhi’s election song.”

The Delhi Assembly Elections results were declared on 8 February. Therefore, it’s clear that the video predates the result declaration date.

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to an Instagram post on the official Instagram handle of the National Herald. The caption of the post containing the viral video read, “the Delhi Congress on Thursday, 23 January, launched its ‘anthem’ for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections, encompassing key schemes and promises for the people of the capital.

Delhi Congress chief Devendra Yadav has long criticised the AAP government and claimed that the liquor scam benefitted not only the top leadership but also other AAP colleagues.

Meanwhile, pressing issues went unaddressed, he said, highlighting unemployment and drug addiction among Delhi’s youth.”

Moving forward, we found a report published on Aaj Tak on 23 January 2025 which stated that the Congress party leaders were dancing after the launch of their theme song for the Delhi Assembly Elections.

This makes it clear that the viral video predates the Delhi Assembly Elections results. 

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The Congress party leaders in the video can be seen dancing after the launch of their theme song for the Delhi Assembly Elections. The video doesn’t show the celebration of the Congress party leaders celebrating even after the defeat.
