The woman can be seen climbing up a ladder and blackening the faces of the two leaders of AAP and striking with sandals. Another woman can be seen hitting the billboard with a stick. Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a tweet on 28 February 2024. The user shared a tweet from BJP leader Harish Khurana where the viral clip can be seen.
According to the original tweet, the video shows women from Shri Nivas Puri, Delhi. The tweet read, “@AamAadmiParty and his ministers have made the life of the people of Delhi hell. In Shri Niwaspuri ward, dirty and smelly sewer water has been entering their homes for the last 15 days and AAP did not go there even after hundreds of complaints from the public.
Today women of Shri Niwaspuri ward smeared the faces of @ArvindKejriwal and @AtishiAAP
with soot. They shouted slogans like Kejriwal Aatishi ‘Hai Hai’.”
Another similar tweet from BJP leader Vijender Gupta sharing the same video can be seen below.
We found news reports from February 2024 regarding the incident.
This makes it clear that the viral video is old and not related to the recent Assembly Elections in Delhi.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video is not related to the recent Delhi Assembly Elections. The video is old and shows a demonstration against the AAP in 2024.
