The viral video is old and not related to the ongoing Prayagraj Maha Kumbh Mela
Mahakumbh Mela 2025 officially commenced on 13 January, 2025 continuing until 26 February, 2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The mela is held every 12 years and attracts millions of pilgrims, saints, and tourists.
Amidst this, a video of Samajwadi Party leader and Member of Parliament Dimple Yadav taking a dip in a river has gone viral on social media, with the claim that she attended the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela and took a holy bath.
Let’s check the truth
Fact Check-
We started our investigation with a reverse image search on google and the results led us to a similar video uploaded on YouTube by The HFF News on 18 October, 2022. The viral video can be seen from the time stamp of 03:45 mark. The description of the video mentions that Mulayam Singh Yadav Asthi Visarjan by Akhilesh Yadav in Haridwar ganga. This indicates that the viral video is old and not related to the ongoing Maha Kumbh mela in Prayagraj.
Moving forward, we found a video containing similar visuals uploaded on the official YouTube channel of News18 UP Uttarakhand on 17 October 2022. The video’s description states Dimple Yadav along with other family members taking a bath in the Ganga at Haridwar during the immersion of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s ashes on 17 October 2022.
We also came across several news reports about Akhilesh Yadav and Dimple Yadav participating in Mulayam Singh’s ashes immersion (Asthi Visarjan) in Haridwar.
Meanwhile we checked, whether there are any reports of Dimple Yadav participating in the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. But we could not find anyone. We also checked her social media handles and found no information regarding her participation in the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela.
This viral video is not related to the ongoing 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela and actually dates back to October 2022.
Conclusion-
Fact crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. The video shows Dimple Yadav taking a holy bath in the river Ganga at Haridwar during the immersion of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s ashes on 2022 October.
